These lovely plants, with delicate yellow iris blooms and tall leaves that grow in a fan shape, are SO EASY TO GROW it will amaze you! In tropical areas, these shade-loving plants make great substitutes for iris. The yellow walking iris blooms from spring to late autumn. The inflorescence arises from the base. When each inflorescence is finished flowering, it produces plantlets and arches toward the ground (walking) where they will take root and start a new plant.
Cold hardy to USDA Zone 9a: to 20° F, these can be grown in containers in colder climates and brought in during the winter. If growing in a pot, you can clip the plantlets when they have air roots and place in their own pot for sharing or for even more blooms in coming years.
Plantlets/babies take 1 - 2 years to bloom, depending on climate and care.
